This research project focuses on the development and coordination of the international research efforts on the assessment of vulnerability of coastal communities in Indonesia caused by potential tsunami hazards. Emphasis is laid on integrated disaster preparedness mechanisms and early warning systems on the national and local level with the aim of developing a more holistic approach to vulnerability assessment and risk research.
