Delta Marine Consultants (DMC) introduce a new armour unit XblocPlus to the market which was already tested in the end of 2017 in a first series of physical model tests in a scale of 1:20 (Froude similitude) in the wave basin of the Ludwig-Franzius Institute for Hydraulic, Estuarine and Coastal Engineering (LuFI) located in Hannover-Marienwerder.

Scope of the present study is to investigate the performance of the new breakwater blocks in convex shaped breakwater lines and in the transition area between new XblocPlus armour units and the conventional Xbloc armour units. Hence, the new armour units are analyzed in physical model tests (Froude similitude) in the new wave-current basin of the Ludwig-Franzius Institute for Hydraulic, Estuarine and Coastal Engineering (LuFI), Leibniz Universität Hannover. The chosen scale refers to the maximum wave height in relation to the stone size which can be generated by the wave maker in the wave basin.
