Large Wave Current Flume (GWK+)

Fact Sheet
  • max. wave height: about 3 m
  • max. flow velocity: +- 0.8 m/s at 5 m water level
  • tide generation
  • length: 300 m
  • with: 5,0 m
  • depth: 7 m
    • Additional pit: -2 m over a length of 28 m
    • Additional pit: -6 m over a length of 8 m
  • regular and irregular wave generation
  • active reflection compensation

The large wave current flume is one of the largest freely accessible wave and current flumes in the world. Many experiments can be carried out in this facility under prototype boundary conditions. In order to systematically and comprehensively develop long-term solutions for coastal protection and coastal ecology requirements, the research methods are interdisciplinary.
