3D Wave-Current Basin Marienwerder (WSBM)

Fact sheet
  • max. regular wave hieght: 0.47 m (at 1.5 - 4.0 s wave period)
  • max. sign. wave height: 0.25 (at1.5 - 3.5 s wave period)
  • length: 15 m
  • width: 28.8 m
  • depth: 1 m
  • sand pit: 7x9 m, additional 1.2 m deep
  • regular, irregular and short crested waves
  • active reflection compensation
  • currents: 5 m³/s (~50 cm/s at 60 cm water depth)

The 3D wave maker (72 individual wave blades) enables many questions relating to basic research to be answered and practical technical problems to be investigated, such as the stability of breakwater heads, research into structure-wave interaction with multidirectional sea states, spatial scour phenomena and similar issues. All processes can be studied in combination with a current.
