The Ludwig-Franzius-Institute was commissioned to investigate the groin stability using physical model tests. These tests were conducted in the hydraulic laboratory of the Ludwig-Franzius-Institute in Hannover. The results were analysed with the approaches of Van der Meer (1988) and Hudson (1959). Therefore, the critical damage number defined by Van der Meer (1988) was calculated to Nod 2.15 and given by Hudson (1959) with D = 5% for the groin head. For the design wave height and period, the determined damage numbers were in the range of no-damage for both approaches (Nod = 1.6 resp. D = 3.6%). Consequently, the stability check was fulfilled for the selected design wave parameter.
