Seegras hat hohe Anpassungsfähigkeit an hydraulische Belastung

Together with Dr. Carmen de los Santos from the Centre of Marine Sciences of Algarve (University of Algarve), Maike Paul sampled and analysed eelgrass populations along European shores to understand how eelgrass can acclimate to some climate change effects such as sea level rise and increase in storm frequency and intensity. They found high flexural plasticity indicating an avoidance strategy to hydrodynamic forcing and an adaptation to climate regions which would allow acclimation under future climate change effects. This work is part of the DFG funded project "GradVeg" which ended in September 2018.
